All those people and all those hours contribute an estimated £23.9bn into the economy.

That’s why the CIPHE is proud to celebrate Volunteers Week.
“Since writing my last column, I have had a busy couple of months working alongside colleagues at the Institute. Part of my role as Director of External Affairs is to spend time in London strengthening relations with contacts at Government level, with a view to highlighting the valuable work being carried out by members of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CPIHE) on a daily basis - be they installers, merchants, colleges, lecturers or students.
“My focus at present is to highlight the role that professional installers fulfil in society, which is twofold. On one hand, plumbing and heating engineers are there to ensure that people are comfortable in their own homes, as they have the qualifications and skills to install the latest heating technologies and bathroom products that make living a certain quality of life possible for the general public
